Gardens and Splash Parks...

...that pretty much sums up the first week of June. Pete and I spent a very wet weekend at the end of May prepping for two new gardens: an improve-our-curb-appeal one in the front and a veggie one in the back. We also broke our backs transplanting sod from the front to where our first ice rink killed our lawn in the back (it's still not completely filled in but looks considerably better).

Here's the front as it looks today... still lots to plant but it's coming.



And here's the veggie garden, currently growing tomatoes, lettuce and zucchini.



The kids have loved helping us. Ethan and Josh have both contributed a couple of plants that they've gotten from school ("Munchkin" - a munchkin sunflower from Josh, "Mary" - a marigold from Ethan, and "Goofy" - an unknown flower that Ethan gave me for Mother's Day last year).

When it's time to clean up, there's only one place we head: the splash park up the street. Leah is thoroughly enjoying pushing all the buttons and seeing the water come on, but hasn't ventured in too much. Conversely, the boys are usually dripping from head to toe within seconds of our arrival.





Leah and I head to Toronto on Wednesday for a whirlwind 4-day visit in honour of both my Grandmothers' 95th birthdays. When we get back we have 2 days to pack up for our big summer road trip to Portland, Vancouver Island and Vancouver. Can't wait!
