We've adjusted surprisingly well to the 60 degree temperature drop. Yesterday was New Year's Eve and we made a very last-minute decision to take the boys to Table Mountain for a day of downhill skiing. I had originally planned to just take Ethan but then Pete said he thought his brace would protect his wrist well enough to join us. We were able to find a friend to watch Leah for the day and decided to take the opportunity to get Josh up on skis for the first time. What a fun day we had!! Josh took to skiing exceptionally quickly and was motoring down blue runs by the end of the day. He loved it... as did Pete and I skiing with our boys. We decided on the way home that it's time to get equipment for Pete and Josh. Leah will then join us as of next season - after she's got a little more skating under her belt.

The day exhausted us all out and we were all fast asleep by 10:30 pm. So much for ringing in New Year's together at midnight!!
But we managed to get an early start to the day and had played games of Monopoly and Sorry before most people were out of bed. The kids then took to the ice and played some hockey. This was Leah's first time playing hockey with the boys wearing her skates (the foam puck makes it a little less daunting) and she loved it.
