Leah's Baptism

The Uranium Conference that was taking us all to Vancouver on a big roadtrip/vacation at the end of March was cancelled earlier this week. Understandably, we're all pretty disappointed and have been brainstorming other trips we can take to make up for it. Leah was supposed to be baptized Easter Sunday but I made some quick calls to the church and they were able to accommodate us for today's baptism instead, freeing up the long weekend for a trip to Calgary.





So today was the day and Leah was awesome. While it was all a bit strange not having any of our families here, we were very grateful to our friends, Kelly and Cliff (with their 3 munchkins) and Nikki and Joyce, who stepped in as our "extended Saskatoon family".

During the baptism, they showed a few pictures of Leah on the big screen overhead. Since Heidi (Leah's cousin and Godmother) couldn't be there, we had them show a picture of two of them together. We will also do an "Official Godmother Ceremony" at Heidi's church in New Liskeard this summer.

After the service, we all came back to our house for lunch. Kelly, cake-maker-extraordinaire, made a beautiful and positively scrumptious baptism cake which blew us all away.



It was a great day and we once again remarked on how truly lucky we are to have found such wonderful friends in this awesome city.
