Waskesiu

Why on earth did we wait 3 years before discovering Northern Saskatchewan?? Pete took a couple of days off while my parents were in town visiting and we rented a cabin up in Waskesiu (located in Prince Albert National Park). Fortunately even my parents agree that the cramped 2.5 hour drive was well worth it!



We were pleasantly surprised by the similarities to Northern Ontario and had a ball hiking, exploring, and playing by the lake. Here are a bunch of pictures from the trip:














Back in Saskatoon, we had a few more days of fun with my parents here. We even managed to discover yet another new park!






On their last night in town we celebrated both boys' upcoming birthdays. We started the celebration with minigolf and dinner at Fuddrucker's and then came home for cake and presents. The first gift was the much-anticipated 4-year old book written by my Dad for Josh (each grandkid gets a book written for them when they turn 4 and 8 respectively). Josh's is entitled, "Starring Wally O'Short" and has quickly skyrocketed to the top of the favourite books list, already having been read countless times since the initial reading by Gramps:




Ethan received a pair of rollerblades from Grammy and Grandpa and impressed us all upon his first attempt. He and I now have a nightly rollerblade date after the other two have gone to bed and he's well on his way to outskating me off the ice as well!!



And so ends our month of visitors. We had a wonderful time with everyone (including Sue who's visit coincided with me needing new batteries for my camera so I regretfully didn't get any pictures... grr) and are now busy gearing up for school and birthday parties.
