A Blast of Winter

Well folks, it's cold here. Really cold. And it has been for a couple of weeks now. Unfortunately this late winter blast coincided with the kids' February break and we dealt with temperatures ranging from -30 to -40 for the whole week (yes, seriously). While many families are struggling with cabin fever and cranky kids these days, our three seem oblivious to the cold and spend hours outside every day. While our backyard is depressingly small compared to the wonderful yard we left behind in Sudbury, it redeems itself with how well it shelters us from the Prairie winds and seems to be situated perfectly to soak up sunshine for most of the day. So our kids (who admittedly seem to be built "Prairie Tough") have made great use of the rink this year and took advantage of all the snow we've shoveled off to build an awesome snow fort with 3 accessing tunnels (Pete might have helped a bit with the building of the fort).
