Week 2 at Bruce Beach

On Sunday, we trekked down to London to take Pete to the airport (he had to fly home for work and it was one of the toughest goodbyes our family has had to experience). We got there early enough for some glow-in-the-dark minigolf and some ice cream before heading to the airport. After the tearful drop-off, the kids and I went to have a visit with Grandma Betts (who had turned 97 in July). Di met us there and we had a wonderful visit out in the courtyard before heading back to the cottage (after also squeezing in another quick visit with Brian and Karen at their house).

We had another couple of days with Glenn, Paule and the kids up at the cottage before they had to head back to New Liskeard for the start of school.  It was pretty quiet after they left but the kids continued to go to baseball every morning and Ethan quickly filled the no-cousin-void with his new friend Zack.  They got together most afternoons to play golf just the two of them at the Bruce Beach golf course.  Ethan has become quite a keen golfer as a result!  We had another couple of days with Grammy and Gramps before they had to head back to Toronto and enjoyed lots of beach time, walks and sunsets together.

45 years and counting...

Grammy and Gramps left on Thursday and a few hours later we were joined by my friend Amy and her 3-year old daughter Sabine.  Leah and Sabine took no time getting reacquainted and were giving Amy and me regular flashbacks of our own friendship 33 years ago.  It was pretty neat to see it come full circle.  We had a great weekend lounging on the beach and catching up.

We went into Kincardine Saturday night to see the pipers parade.  Ice cream beforehand was a must!

Here come the pipers!
We were all a little blue when Sunday rolled around and it was time to pack up the Beast and say goodbye to Bruce Beach for another summer.  We're already counting down the days until we're back again next summer - but this time we've vowed not to let work call Daddy home early!

On Sunday afternoon we made our way to Toronto for a visit with Grandma Kitten/Izzy (who turned 97 in June).  Grammy joined us for a nice visit outside.
