Leah's 6th Birthday

Somehow a precedent was set a while back that the kids each get to pick one Fun Factory birthday party.  After much deliberation, Leah finally settled on her 6th birthday being the big one.  She planned specifics all through the summer and was itching to send the invitations out the first day of school.  We managed to hold her off until about 2 weeks before the big event.

Her actual birthday fell on a Wednesday this year which meant our evening was chalk full of hockey and ringette.  She reluctantly agreed to delay her party by a couple of days.  We started her birthday morning off with the usual presents at breakfast...

... and we finished off the night at ringette with the whole team serenading her and enjoying birthday cupcakes.

Friday finally arrived and the big party did not disappoint.  Leah had requested that all her friends wear their favourite princess dresses to the party.  It was quite cute to see all these little princesses (and an Olaf) take over the Fun Factory!

We had a lazy Saturday morning playing with Leah's new toys.  Around lunch time there was a knock at the door.  I had been tipped off that Leah should answer it, but we were all absolutely shocked to see Zia standing at the door holding a birthday cake!! Apparently a birthday cake had been delivered to Zia's house in Calgary but the only birthday girl she knew was 620 kms away so she decided to personally deliver it.  Yep, that's Zia for you!  She was only able to stay one night, but we squeezed as much fun as possible into her visit.  She sure made a certain birthday girl very very happy (and apparently her Dad too)...
