THE BIG BC ADVENTURE - Part 1

I'm currently sitting in the trailer at Mountain View Resort - a campsite in Creston, BC that offers free wifi. I'm waiting for Leah to wake up from her nap so figured I'd take advantage of some down time and tackle the enormous task of updating the blog. We are almost 2 weeks into our BC Adventure and are having an absolutely fabulous trip. I'm overwhelmed by the thought of summarizing it all and sifting through hundreds of pictures so I'm going to get some help from Ethan. He's been keeping a daily journal as a homework assignment which I'm going to use to summarize our trip. Here you have it, in Ethan's words:

Tuesday, May 31st
Today we left Calgary and we drove to Lake Louise. We left our trailer at a campground and drove to Yoho National Park where we saw the Spiral Tunnels, The Natural Bridge and went for a hike at Emerald Lake.














Wednesday, June 1st
We left Lake Louise this morning. It was raining. We stopped at Canyon Hot Springs for a swim and an ice cream and the water was warm. We set up the trailer at Noah's Ark Campground. We played at the park and had popcorn while we watched the hockey game. Bos 0 Van 1. What a goal! Yes!








Thursday, June 2nd
This morning we went to the Enchanted Forest and saw lots of treehouses. When we got back to the campground we went for an amphibious ATV tour. It was so cool. After lunch we went swimming in Revelstoke. There was a red waterslide. Then we had a picnic dinner while my Dad biked up a mountain and today was the best day ever.











Friday, June 3rd
Today we drove past lots of lakes and even more mountains. We dropped Dad off in Salmon Arm and he biked 50 kms to our campsite at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. We're camping right on a lake. We played Monopoly and Connect 4 after we explored the campground. {Editor's Note: I'm particularly proud to say that the trailer was completely set up by the time Pete arrived at the campsite. All it took was a promise of free beer to some passersby to help me back the trailer into our site!}







Saturday, June 4th
This morning we went for a bike ride and then we had a picnic lunch at a beach {Editor's Note: don't miss the video below of the kids putting on a musical number for us on the beach}. After lunch my Dad and I explored some trails on our bikes. When Leah woke up from her nap we went to play mini golf and ride bumper boats. Then we had dinner at a restaurant where we could watch the Vancouver vs. Boston game. Vancouver won! By one goal in overtime! A wrap-around! Boston lost. Yay! Score was Vancouver 3 Boston 2.











Sunday, June 5th
Today we packed up our campsite at Shuswap Lake and started driving south. We stopped at Atlantis Waterslides for an afternoon of awesome fun. River Riot was my favourite! Then we drove to Bear Creek Provincial Park where we'll be staying for 3 days.








lundi, le 6 juin
Aujourd'hui nous sommes aller au parc. Après ça nous avons jouer à la plage. Il y avait un autre match de hockey alors nous sommes aller à Kelowna pour manger le diner à Boston Pizza devant le télé. Vancouver a perdu cette fois. :(






Tuesday, June 7th
This morning we went for a big hike up a mountain. It was 2.5 kms long {Editor's Note: and all it took was 100 stories and a sleeve of Arrowroot cookies to convince the kids to hike the whole thing themselves!} After lunch we played a game of soccer and went for a bike ride. Then it started raining so we came inside to play Monopoly. I won!!






Wednesday, June 8th
Today we drove to Osoyoos. On the way we stopped at a beach in Penticton for lunch. The water was cold but Josh and I went swimming anyway. Our new campsite is on a peninsula. We had dinner at a restaurant and watched Vancouver lose again.






Thursday, June 9th
This morning we played in the water at our campsite. Then we went to a miniature railway centre. It was awesome! After lunch we went for a hike in the desert. Then we played mini golf.







Friday, June 10th
It was raining this morning so we got an early start and drove to Creston. We are now camping at Mountain View Campground. We went on a hunt for wooden carvings in the woods. I found them all and I got a free ice cream. We were able to watch the Vancouver game in our trailer tonight. Vancouver 1 Boston 0. YAY YAY YAY!




Saturday, June 11th
This morning we went to explore the town of Creston. Josh and I got haircuts and then participated in Kids Day at the Creston Museum. After lunch we played soccer and Monopoly and then we went to a splash park.
